Go Broncos!!

Today in library I had a 4th Grade class who decided to decorate the library with Kansas City Chiefs pictures.  Have I not taught you guys well enough?  We cheer for the Broncos!  Mr. Harvey had his class color these pictures and put them inside all the books the kids checked in.  It was a good prank my 4th grade friends!  Now remember to read this long Thanksgiving weekend AND cheer for the Broncos on Sunday!!

Have a wonderful holiday and remember that I am so very thankful for each and every one of my Forbes kids!  You guys make my life happy & I am so glad I get to be a part of your lives!

ATTENTION 5TH GRADERS!

I am excited to announce Lunch Bunch for 5th graders.  We will be reading the book "Schooled" by Gordon Korman.  It's time to get your hippy on!  I think you will really enjoy this book and the message it presents.  I fell in love with the characters and can't wait to show you some surprises I have for this book.  Check out the "Lunch Bunch" tab above for more information!  Peace...Love...& Reading!

October Patriot Reading!

Tomorrow is the due date for October Patriot Reading!  Make sure you turn in your bookmark, signed by your parents by tomorrow, November 4th.  I have lots of new pins to choose from!

NEW BOOKS IN THE LIBRARY!

I am super excited to announce new books have moved into our library!  I am trying to get them all ready for you to read and I hope you love them.  We have some new "I Survived" titles.  If you enjoy the slightly scary books, we have a new series called "Scary Tales" that look fun and spooky.  I have added new non-fiction books as well.  I love seeing how excited you guys get when we get new books, so I thought I would give you a little "teaser" here on the blog.  Come check them out!

BOOK FAIR IS COMING!!

Next week (October 10-13) is our book fair.  Please come and take a look at all the great books Scholastic has to offer.  For every book you buy, you will receive a ticket to be entered in the drawing for a free book each day.  We will be previewing the book fair for library next week so you can take a look.  Bring your parents back to check it out too during Parent/Teacher Conferences.  All the money we earn from our book fairs go back into our library for books and other great improvements for our school.  Thanks for supporting our Forbes Book Fair!

Patriot Reading!!

I made some buttons for Patriot Reading this weekend.  If you have suggestions of buttons you want me to make, comment below.  I am excited for Patriot Reading this year because I know that ALL our students can achieve the monthly goal and earn the party!  Remember there are TWO parties this year! It's the New School Year!!

As we start this new school year, I could not be more excited! I had this poster made for the library and I love it!  It is everything I would tell all of my Forbes kids.  You guys are amazing and I cannot wait to have you each week in the library.  We are going to have so much fun & I hope you know how important you are to me!  Let's make it a great year!

Happy Birthday Harry Potter!!

Well, we can't let this day go by without honoring this guy!  Happy Birthday Harry Potter! What an amazing character that has captivated so many of us.  I am so excited to get the new Harry Potter book for our library.  You are never too young or too old to enjoy these wonderful stories!

Look What I Got For You!!

For all my "Land of Stories" fans, look what came out this week!! "An Author's Odyssey".  For those of you that have read the other books, this looks just as good.  I love the cover art of these books. Now are you excited for school to start so that you can check this out?!  See you soon!!

Rubix Cube Magic...Amazing!!

Kids, remember the little superhero rubix cube we had in the library?  I thought you would love to see this rubix cube magic trick from America's Got Talent.  I watched it the other night and was stunned.  I thought of all of you trying to solve our mini cube each time you come to the library.  This guy practices the rubix cube and all his tricks 6-8 hours a day.  Pretty amazing tricks!

I'm So Excited, I Think I Might POP!

Hello my favorite Forbes kids!! I hope you are enjoying every minute of your summer vacation!  I just had to let you know what I have been up to this week.  I have been attending workshops to create fun lessons for YOU! I had to tell you because I am so excited for the lesson I created today.  I cannot wait to get back in school and share it with you!  This picture at the top is a hint.  Do you want another hint?  Just when you thought library was only about reading books, I just might surprise you with an experiment!  Are you excited?  See you soon!

Hello my favorite Forbes kids!  Check out the Book Talk tab at the top of the page here and see the books I have added.  We didn't do very many book talks last year, but I have added the ones I have copies of.  I love hearing all about the books you read, so make sure you read some good books over the summer.  We will be doing lots of book talks next year and I will be adding them to our blog.  I hope you enjoy!

How do I get my 20 minutes?

I saw this list and thought I would share some ideas on how to combat the "summer slide."  Sometimes it's hard to get 20 minutes in every day.  Here are some ideas to help!  P.S. It's only the 1st day of summer vacation and I already miss my Forbes kids!!  I hope you are having lots of fun! Don't forget to read!
